When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Photography and Recording at Events
If you attend an event we produce, host, or staff, your image, voice, or likeness may be captured in photographs, video, or audio recordings. These materials may be used for promotional purposes, including on our website, social media, and marketing materials. Signage or ticket terms at the event will typically note this. If you would like a specific image removed, please contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.
Cookies
We use cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies to operate the site and understand how it is used. The categories we use include:
- Strictly necessary cookies — required for the site to function, such as security and load balancing
- Performance and analytics cookies — help us understand traffic and improve the site, such as Google Analytics
- Functional cookies — remember your preferences and settings
- Advertising and targeting cookies — used to deliver relevant ads and measure campaign performance, such as the Meta Pixel and Google Ads tags
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.
You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where available, through the cookie preferences banner on our site. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site functions. Our site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, but we do honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where required by law.
Embedded Content From Other Websites
Pages on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, maps, or articles. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor had visited the other website directly.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website. We do not control these third parties, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to them.
